Fayette County Public Schools posted a great showing on the 2023 College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI), seeing gains nearly across the board and outpacing the state averages on Content Mastery and Readiness, according to a system news release.
On Content Mastery, Fayette’s elementary schools scored 87.5 percent, compared to 64.7 for the state. Middle schools scored 89.4 to the state’s 60.9. High schools scored 86.4 to the state’s 65.
Content Mastery includes achievement scores in English, language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies based on student performance on state assessments.
Rising Starr Middle scored a perfect 100 in all four content mastery categories (English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies).
On Readiness, Fayette’s elementary schools scored 90.1, compared to 82.3 for the state. Middle Schools scored 90.6 to the state’s 82.00. High schools scored 80.9 to the state’s 71.4.
Readiness addresses the question “Are students participating in activities preparing them for and demonstrating readiness for the next level, college, or career?” There are three readiness indicators for elementary and middle schools: Literacy, Student Attendance, and Beyond the Core.
On Progress, Fayette’s elementary schools scored 92.8 to the state’s 85.8. Middle schools scored 93.6 to the state’s 80.8. High schools scored 84.8 to the state’s 79.2.
Progress utilizes Student Growth Percentiles to measure progress in both English language arts and mathematics showing the amount of growth a student has demonstrated relative to academically-similar students.
On Closing Gaps, Fayette’s elementary schools scored 81.5 to the state’s 66.7. Middle schools scored 90.3 to the state’s 52.5. High schools scored 59.7 to the state’s 67.5.
Closing Gaps measures the extent to which all student subgroups are meeting annual achievement improvement targets.
The Fayette County Public Schools four-year graduation rate of 91.96 outpaced the state rate of 84.4. The county’s rate increased from 89.81 last year. — Provided by the Fayette County School System.
