More than just lifting up the fans at McIntosh High, the Chiefettes dance team loves to lift up their community. Continuing an annual tradition to complete at least one service project, the Chiefettes volunteered at Bloom, a local non-profit that supports foster families around the state.
Their main task was sorting huge bins of clothes. They discarded clothes that were not usable, and they also unpacked new socks, hats, and gloves and sorted them into bins. The last project was organizing donated toys and other objects.
Participating Chiefettes were Heather Lee, Maya Thomas, Elizabeth Stanton, Sunia Xiao, Olivia Anderson, Khami Williams, Sofi Schwartz, Lila Egsieker, Nina Seymour, Mady Kuehn, Sydney Fortner, Daisy Fidler, Sarah Wilson, and Shima Arai.
The team took pride in helping out and especially in bringing smiles to the foster children who would benefit from their hard work.
“I hope my team took away that we live in a great community that gives freely of their time and belongings,” said Chiefettes coach Carmen Yarbrough. “Even with a late night football game the night before, it was good for the team to rise early on a Saturday to help out an organization that serves our community.”
