Peachtree City planning officials are preparing to kick off the “One Peachtree City” campaign to gather a significant amount of input on the city’s future goals for the next 10 years and beyond.
The city is preparing to update its comprehensive plan, and wants to hear from a large number and a wide variety of residents. To facilitate that input, the city is planning to host a number of community meetings and smaller focus groups at a variety of times and days in an effort to make it easier for residents to have input.
“Hopefully working together collaboratively we can come up with some goals and a vision we can all agree with,” said City Planner David Rast.
The kickoff meetings, planned for April and scheduled for Sunday afternoons, will allow residents to drop in at the new downstairs community room at City Hall where they can learn more about the process and share their views about the city’s direction.
There will also be a campaign to attract volunteers to roundtable discussions on various teams for three meetings of about two hours each, Rast said.
“The goal is to get as many people as we can to participate and give us feedback so we can take that and kind of digest it,” Rast said.
Residents who can’t participate in the meetings but would like to take part will be able to arrange a home meeting with neighbors, co-workers or a church group. Organizers of such meetings will be able to pick up a planning tote bag that contains exercises those small groups can conduct to help shape the city’s future plans, Rast said.
The city will specifically target community groups including young families, senior adults, and even high school and college age students along with members of the business community, Rast said.
