The latest exchange of letters to the editor about Mayor Haddix and city vehicles is an atrocity.
It’s clear the mayor accidentally misspoke when he said Council Member Imker wanted to take 50 police vehicles out of service. Does the mayor have it in him to correct this mistake?
After over a year of observing our mayor at council meetings I have concluded he is incapable of stepping to the plate. He will relentlessly continue the negative to the point of pulling our city into the gutter in the minds of those who read our newspapers outside our city.
I am ashamed that others see our city in such light. All it takes is a man who is willing to say, “I was wrong about Mr. Imker” in his statement about the 50 police vehicles.
Hopefully, this mayor will understand his error and make the necessary corrections in order to work with our City Council members in a professional manner which projects a positive image of our beautiful city.
Look at the record. It appears to me that every disagreement was started by the mayor resulting from his accusations and other misleading information about one of the other council members.
The mayor may think he is building his case to run again for mayor in 2013 but the citizens are smarter than that. They’ve read all his negative and skewed letters to the editor over the last year and will judge him on that.
It is my opinion the mayor will not be reelected. Perhaps then our City Council will have a new mayor they can work with to get the job done as deserved by all citizens of Peachtree City.
At the conclusion of Mayor Haddix’s term, our citizens will have endured the most negative four years in its history. As a concerned citizen of this community, I am writing this article in hopes that Mayor Haddix will step up to the plate and do the right thing in supporting our current city council.
Perhaps I am mistaken about all this.
