The Citizen is proud to feature exceptional student-athletes from across our community each week. Whether they’re leading their teams to victory, showing strong character on and off the field, or making steady progress in their sport, these athletes represent the very best of local youth. We celebrate their hard work, dedication, and leadership in schools, leagues, and clubs throughout Fayette and Coweta counties.

This week, we’re proud to feature these athletes:

East Coweta High School

McKenzie Helton
Cheerleading

McKenzie has grown tremendously as an athlete, showing relentless effort and competitive drive daily, pushing herself to improve at every practice.

Fayette County High School

Aaliyah Ali
Cheerleading

Aaliyah has shown great leadership and I can always count on her to display a good example to her fellow cheer team.

McIntosh High School

Julianna Lockwood
Cheerleading

“It is with great pleasure, the McIntosh cheerleading coaching staff recommends senior Julianna Lockwood as The Athlete of the Week to represent MHS cheer! She is a positive athlete who leads by example! She is a talented cheerleader, is hard working, and a pleasure to coach!” – Coach Shannon Bednarowski

Starr’s Mill High School

Cara King

Band Captain and Mellophone Section leader. She has done a great job leading the band through the season so far. She is organized, thoughtful, and respectful of everyone in the program.

Trinity Christian School

Zoe Joyner
Volleyball

Zoe Joyner – #11, Hitting over .300%, with 9 blocks, and 8 aces! Over the last week Zoe has helped push our team forward with her quiet confidence and exuberant joyfulness! She is our very own spark plug that has selflessly stepped into a different position for us this season, and her hard work is paying off!

Whitewater High School

Andrew Steed
ESports

Andrew Steed is dedicated to improving his Rocket League skills and puts in the extra time it takes to get better. His commitment and determination have elevated both his own level of play and the success of the team, making him an incredibly valuable Wildcat!
