The Fayette County Board of Commissioners has approved a memorandum of understanding between the county, the Fayette County Youth Soccer League and U.S. Soccer that will enhance five fields at McCurry Park South in Fayetteville, as well as make upgrades to current facilities and field equipment.

U.S. Soccer expects this to be the first of many community projects in Fayette County and the metro Atlanta area. The fields will be used for the Fayette County community and U.S. Soccer for its Youth and Extended National Team camps, in the lead up to the opening of the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Fayetteville.

All costs for the upgrades will be covered by U.S. Soccer, partially through grants and sponsorships.

U.S. Soccer plans to hold its first training camp at the fields this fall.

“Fayette County has been an invaluable partner as we embark on the construction of the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center, according to Neil Buethe, U.S. Soccer’s Chief Communications Officer. “Our goal by enhancing five fields at McCurry Park South will be to provide value to the community and the Fayette County Youth Soccer League for the long-term, as well as provide a location for our Youth and Extended National Teams to conduct training camps in the lead-up to 2026.”
