An altercation at a holiday cookout led to multiple felony charges for a Fayetteville man.

According to a spokesman for the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place over the Memorial Day weekend at the pool area of the Kenwood Landing mobile home park. The suspect confronted his girlfriend at the pool and struck her, according to the report, and for a period of time he would not let her out of his sight. All of this – verbal abuse and physical abuse – took place in front of children.

Severin Seabrook, 53, of Fayetteville was arrested as a result. Felony charges of false imprisonment and aggravated assault lead the list, along with two counts of battery/family violence, disorderly conduct, and cruelty to children in the third degree, according to the Fayette County Jail log.

Elsewhere in Fayette County, a man was found in McCurry Park May 28 at around 3 a.m. Being in the park after closing is illegal and usually results in a warning so the offender can vacate the premises. In this case, the ensuing investigation turned up a firearm and a felony amount of drugs.

Kevin Hale, 19, of Jonesboro was charged with a felony drug count as well as possession of a firearm/knife in commission of a crime. Lesser charges included possession of drug-related objects and violation of a county ordinance.

A man who initiated a hit-and-run accident was located after the fact and taken into custody. Kenneth Fogel, 53, of Fayetteville was ultimately charged with two felony drug counts along with possession/use of drug-related objects, marijuana possession, and several traffic violations.

An officer responded May 30 to The Avenue shopping center in reference to a vehicle of interest from a theft earlier in the day. Officers determined after an investigation that multiple subjects in the vehicle should be charged in the thefts.

Two were taken to Fayette County Jail: Ashley Thurmond, 51, of Peachtree City; and Joseph Thurmond, 17, of Newnan. Two others were released to parents.

The theft occurred at Ulta and officers learned that there was also a theft at Sephora.
