The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is giving a shout-out to one of their drug-sniffing dogs for alerting to a huge stash of cocaine during a traffic stop this past week.

“We want to give a huge shoutout to Fayette County K-9 Jäger for detecting 7.2 kilos of cocaine during a traffic stop,” according to the department’s Facebook page.

“Thanks to Jäger’s keen sense of smell, he was able to indicate an odor of narcotics from the exterior of the vehicle and his handler was able to conduct a search of the inside of the vehicle.

“The team found 6 packages of cocaine (which holds a street value of approximately $700,000) and $5,530 in cash.

“As you can probably tell by the smile on his face, Jäger loves helping make Fayette County a safer place!”
