In ‘Alice in Wonderland,’ when Alice tumbles down a mysterious rabbit hole, she finds
herself in a strange land where everyone is raving mad. With the help of a Cheshire Cat, an
astute Caterpillar, and a righteous Humpty Dumpty, Alice must find her way home and
discover who she really is. At times silly, and other times thrilling, ‘Alice in Wonderland’ is
filled with memorable characters, famous wordplay, and lots of laughs. The cast and crew
of Southside Theatre Guild’s upcoming production are enjoying the process of putting
their own spin on this classic tale.
“We had one of the largest, if not the largest, number of people to come out to audition for
this show in our theater’s history,” said director Will Evans. “And the level of talent on
display was impressive. There are familiar faces, new talent, and a lot of performers that
are new to Southside Theatre Guild. The chemistry we are seeing is wonderful. We’re
having a lot of fun.”
It is a large cast and there will be six Alices featured throughout the show, which will make
for an interesting part of the ride. Other characters are doubled as well, adding to the
surreal, dream-like quality of the production. Evans and his cast and crew are also adding
other elements to the set and sound design to put a unique spin on a very familiar story.
‘Alice in Wonderland’ opens Thursday, Feb. 15 and runs at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays, and
Saturday, Feb. 24 and 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17 and Sundays. Tickets are $21 for adults
and $13 for children under the age of 12. For more information, visit stgplays.com.
