Back to school can be a tough time for parents and kids as they rush around trying to find bookbags and school supplies, especially with recent supply chain shortages and rising prices.
Fayette Friendship Community Church (FFCC) recently held a “Back to School” luncheon to help students at nearby North Fayette Elementary School (NFES). The luncheon resulted in a carload of backpacks and school supplies provided by the congregation, Project BOAZ, and Strayer University.
In addition, FFCC donated $1,500 to NFES to support ongoing needs of the students. FFCC also provides gift cards throughout the school year to Fayette County Board of Education social workers for families in need.
The weekend before school started Project BOAZ, in partnership with FFCC, assisted more than 70 families with free haircuts and hairstyles at three participating barber shops and one hair salon. Generations Together, Bank of America, Strayer University, Barbershop at Walmart, and several other churches supported this project.
