It was an eventful weekend on Peachtree City’s golf cart paths, judging from various police reports. Here is a sample.

A traffic stop was conducted Aug. 18 on a golf cart operating with no headlights. The driver was found to be operating the golf cart under the influence. The man, age 44, of Peachtree City was taken to Fayette County Jail and charged with DUI of alcohol as well as two counts of endangering a child while driving under the influence and the headlight violation.

Officers were dispatched Aug. 19 in the area of Kelly Drive due to a golf cart being driven erratically. The vehicle was found and so was the driver. The man, age 41, was arrested for DUI, marijuana possession and failure to maintain and taken to Fayette County Jail.

A citizen complained to police Aug. 19 that four young males on a golf cart had made threatening comments to him in front of his wife and grandchildren. The man was able to provide the golf cart number and police tracked it down. Through the owner of the cart the officer found the four juveniles. “The situation was discussed and expectations going forward were clearly stated to the juveniles and two of their parents,” according to a police report.

Elsewhere in Peachtree City, a police officer responded Aug. 18 to Colonnade Drive in reference to an information report. The complainant completed a written statement and was given a case number and pamphlet. The complainant was found to have an active warrant out of Spalding County and was placed under arrest and taken to jail.

A complaint of reckless and aggressive driving led to an Aug. 19 traffic stop in the area of South Peachtree Parkway and Hwy. 54. A citizen had reported that a silver Toyota RAV 4 was tailgating, speeding and failing to maintain, almost causing a collision. An officer located the vehicle going southbound on Peachtree Parkway and was able to observe the multiple traffic violations. The traffic stop and subsequent field sobriety test resulted in the man, age 28, being taken into custody for DUI, failure to maintain lane and following too close.

An officer in the area of Hwy. 74 and Kedron Drive Aug. 20 in the middle of the night located a vehicle that had been reported stopped in the turning lane. It was determined that the driver was under the influence. The driver, 38, of Fayetteville was taken to Fayette County Jail with that charge.

A complaint regarding reckless driving in the area of Hwy. 74 and Crabapple Lane was reported the evening of Aug. 20. Officers located the vehicle and made a traffic stop based on seeing a moving violation. A K9 officer was brought to the scene and detected narcotics, and a subsequent search of the vehicle found that the dog was correct. Two suspects — Cliftonya Ketchup, 58; and Shaqueta Crumbley, 43 — were taken into custody and transported to Fayette County Jail.
