Justin Daniel Edwards was born on September 16, 1987. He was adopted by Christopher and Jane Ramig in 1992. He attended Fayette County Schools.
Dennis Ramig — as he was known in Fayette County — was an accomplished French Horn player and played in the school bands in Fayette County, receiving Governor’s Honors recognition twice, and in two symphonic groups: the Metropolitan Atlanta Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Southern Crescent Symphony Orchestra. He also played in his home church, Fayetteville First United Methodist Church.
He played “little league” baseball in Fayette County and in Brooks, Georgia. He was selected for the All-Star Team during one of the seasons he played.
He enlisted in the United States Army and served in Afghanistan as well as in the United States, principally in Fayetteville, North Carolina at Fort Bragg. In the United States, he served in the 82nd Financial Management Company.
Upon his return from Afghanistan and in civilian life, he attended Campbell University in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and was a Dean’s List student over several terms.
He married Erika Rojas Dominguez in 2007 and became parent to Shelley Edwards, now 14 years old. He married Danielle Smith in March, 2012 and they became parents of Levi Christopher Edwards in 2014.
He is survived by his wife Danielle, his children Shelley and Levi, his father and his wife, Lisa Ramig; his brother William Fitzgerald, his uncle “Buddy” Bailey, of Palmetto, Georgia, his aunts Deb Smith and Bess Chaney of Fayetteville, Georgia, his aunt Ashley Smith of Raleigh, North Carolina, his aunt Anne Barrows of Racine, Wisconsin, his aunt and uncle Dorothy and John Ramig, of Silverton, Oregon, and many cousins.
A memorial service will held on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, Georgia at 2:00 pm. Flowers are welcome, but a donation in his name to Coco’s Cupboard or Wounded Warriors would also be appreciated.
