The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) has recognized the Fayette County Public Schools Public Relations Department with awards at the international, regional, and local levels.
The rebranding of the school system’s alternative program to Fayette LIFE Academy swept awards across all levels of competition, winning an “Excellence” award in the Gold Quill international competition, the Atlanta Golden Flames competition, and the regional Silver Quill competition where the entry was also named “Best in Division” and “Best in Show.”
Top awards were also earned for the ESPLOST IV marketing campaign at the regional and Atlanta competition, and a video about bus drivers helping as substitute teachers received “Excellence” and “Merit” awards from the Atlanta and regional contest, respectively.
Fayette County Public Schools was among some of the top state, regional, and international corporations receiving awards, including Georgia Power, UPS, Cox Enterprises, Roundtree Group Integrated Communications (an international public relations firm), Piedmont Healthcare, and Southern Gas Company.
All IABC award entries are evaluated by professional communicators with more than 10 years of experience. Evaluators have earned IABC awards at the local, regional, and/or international level, and many are either IABC accredited or certified by the Global Communication Certification Council. They are trained to evaluate entries against established criteria aligned to the communication profession. Entries are scored independently by two evaluators.
