The old Haverty’s Furniture store on Ga. Highway 85 North in Fayetteville, under renovation to be the home of the new Tesla automotive showroom, was burglarized again on Oct. 29 with tools and copper wire stolen. That makes the second burglary at the location since Sept. 12.

Fayetteville Police Department spokesman Jeff Harris said thieves forced their way through the plywood covering an area in the rear of the store. They left with tools and rolls of copper wire.

It was on Sept. 12 that the construction crew arrived at the location to find that forced entry had been made through the rear roll-up door, Harris said, adding that a number of tools with a value of up to $7,000 had been stolen.

In another case, a burglary at a home on Legends Road off Redwine Road was reported on Oct. 29.

Harris said a window in the rear of the house had been broken. The homeowner is determining what items might have been stolen.

Also on Oct. 29, a burglary was reported on Logan Park Drive off Helen Sams Parkway on the city’s southeast side.

Harris said access to the home was made after the window in a rear door was busted.

Officers responding cleared the house and, upon their arrival, the owners said jewelry and cash were missing, Harris said.
