Peeples students put their critical thinking skills to the test, as 3rd grade enrichment students cracked the case of the missing candy.

Inspired by reading the “Third Grade Detectives” book series, the case of the missing candy was a chance to combine critical thinking skills with science, reading, math, and real life careers/application.

The classroom was transformed into a crime scene, and students dressed as detectives, took fingerprints, solved crimes, analyzed motives, cross-referenced data, and critically looked at clues. They read and investigated case files, looked at suspects, and completed logic puzzles to determine the culprit.

Enrichment teacher Shaylen Dixon was thrilled to see her students engrossed in the activity.

“We talked about being a detective in our own life and taking time to analyze our own strengths and weaknesses,” she said. “We had a BLAST, and we stretched our brains exponentially!”
