Frank Destadio, the former Chairman of the Peachtree City Planning Commission for over four years, and currently a sitting commissioner for almost ten years, has announced his intention to run for the Peachtree City Council.
“If elected by the citizens of PTC, my goal would be first and formost to be an advocate for the citizens of PTC and to listen to your concerns. Additionally, I feel strongly that the City needs to be doing more to attract and retain a strong and diverse workforce. Attracting a skilled workforce is vital to our citys continued future,” Frank said.
Frank and his wife of 51 years, Sandi, have four daughters, the youngest of which graduated from McIntosh HS in 2002. They have seven grandchildren, five of which live in the greater Atlanta area.
Frank is a retired Air Force colonel where he served as a civil engineer for almost 30 years in locations all around the USA and overseas including Germany, Hawaii and Isreal. He has a B.S. in Civil Engineering, from the University of Connecticut and an M.S. in Systems Management, from the University of Southern California. He is a proven, dynamic leader with nearly 45 years of engineering and management experience.
Frank and Sandi are members of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where Frank is an usher and an Extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, and a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus, having served in all positions including the Grand Knight.
He has been a member of Post 50 of the PTC American Legion for the past 14 years. He volunteers at Ashley Glen Senior Living and Memory Care Facility where he conductes a weekly men’s group for the male residents so they would have something specifically for them to participate in as a group.
Frank also has served as a citizen volunteer on the Fayette County Water Committee for the past five years, where his vast knowledge of water and waste water engineering has been very valuable.
Finally, he belongs to several professional organizations such as the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Chi Epsilon; the National Engineering Honors Society, and the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) where he is a life member and an Academy Fellow.
Frank obviously has a strong desire to serve his community and desires to become a PTC Council member because he is committed to preserving Peachtree City’s quality of life, both now and in the future.
He will bring his strong knowledge of the city’s planning and zoning issues, gained through years on our city Planning Commission, to the Council. He strongly believes in the concept that our beautiful city was founded on, the village concept.
He also understands that past missteps, over the years, by many city councils, have caused issues such as increased traffic conjestion, an ever increasing number of housing developments, and continued pressure from developers to change our city’s zoning ordinances. He has the leadership skills and the experience needed to make the right decisions right now, to preserve our quality of life.
He invites you to visit his website, www.frankdestadioforcouncil.com, where you will find more details of his plans and ideas, as well as an opportunity to connect. He hopes you will “Like” him on his Facebook page (@FDestadioforcouncil) as well. He looks forward to hearing from you, and thanks you for your support.
