The proposed Shoppes at New Hope retail center on Ga. Highway 314 at New Hope Road received a recommendation for rezoning at the Feb. 25 meeting of the Fayetteville Planning and Zoning Commission.

The request would have the 3.97-acre property on the northeast corner of Hwy. 314 and New Hope Road rezoned from C-2 (community commercial) to C-3 (highway commercial).

The vote to recommend the project totaling 15,000 sq. ft. in two buildings and a separate small building for a Smoothie King was 5-0.

A special exception request due to the multiple drive-thru windows being requested was tabled on a 3-2 vote until a traffic study can be submitted.

The special exception request will be addressed at the commission’s March 24 meeting.
