Born in Lynchburg, Va., he and his wife of 44 years, Norma Jo (Whitton), have lived in Peachtree City, Ga. since 1991. He was a teacher in Pennsylvania, Va., and Georgia. During the school years of 1989 through 2001, he taught at Fayette County High School and Landmark Christian Academy in Georgia, prior to retiring.

Survivors include his loving wife, (Norma) Jo Hooten; sister, Janet Paris Hooten (Michael) Coffey of St. Louis, Mo. Other survivors include many beloved nieces and nephews.

In remembrance, the family will have a small gathering at a later date.
