Joyce Mims Alligood was born in Miami, Fla. on May 1, 1933. She graduated from Miami Jackson Senior High School. She was one of nine children.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Olin E Alligood and her son, Olin Andrew (Drew) Alligood.
During the 1970’s, Joyce worked for State Senator George Hollahan. Later, she partnered alongside her husband at Alligood-Carroll Funeral Home in Perrine, Fla. For years she taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church of Perrine, now Christ Fellowship. For seven years, she lived in Peachtree City, Ga. and was very active at First Baptist Church of Peachtree City. She was known as a Godly woman and a prayer warrior. Joy was kind and loving and always opened her home for anyone in need. She had a fierce love for family and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Cara A. Srodulski; son-in-law, James Srodulski; two grandchildren, Becca Srodulski and Zachary Srodulski; sister, Doris Wagner; twin brothers, Ted Mims and Tom Mims; and many loved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City, Ga. on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 6 p.m. A visitation will be held prior to the service, from 5-6 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Snow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Cadwell, Ga.
