Could the repaving of the remainder of Ga. Highway 54 through Fayette County finally be coming to a close? The answer is – maybe.
“After repaving 12.5 miles of main travel lanes along Hwy. 54 from the Coweta County line to a point just east of McDonough Road, crews have been pouring the asphalt topping in turn lanes and intersections from Peachtree City back toward Fayetteville. (Ga. Dept. of Transportation) officials say the long-awaited finishing of intersections and turn lanes in downtown Fayetteville should commence this weekend,” Fayetteville Public Information Officer Danny Harrison said on Sept. 17.
As is customary, paving activities will include at least one through-lane remaining open, Harrison noted.
And as usual, paving work will occur between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
