The distinction makes Piedmont Fayette one of the top 1 percent of more than 4,500 hospitals assessed nationwide for its consistent, year-over-year superior clinical performance, as measured by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals.

It was the fourth consecutive year that Piedmont Fayette has been named to this prestigious list.

“Earning a spot on this list demonstrates a consistent commitment to quality and safety that we are very proud of,” said Michael Burnett, CEO of Piedmont Fayette. “Each one of our physicians and staff members are focused on providing high-quality, patient-centered care and have contributed to receiving this award.”

The 50 recipients of the America’s 50 Best Hospitals Award are distinguished for overall clinical excellence across a broad spectrum of care. During the 2018 study period (2014-2016), these hospitals showed superior performance in clinical outcomes for patients in the Medicare population across at least 21 of 32 most common inpatient conditions and procedures, as measured by objective performance data (risk-adjusted mortality and in-hospital complications).

“As consumers take an active role in managing their health, they can have confidence that hospitals that have achieved the America’s 50 Best Hospital Award stand above the rest,” said Brad Bowman, Chief Medical Officer, Healthgrades. “We commend the recipients of the America’s 50 Best Hospital Award™ for delivering exceptional quality care to their patients.”

In addition to earning the 2018 America’s 50 Best Hospitals Award from Healthgrades, Piedmont Fayette was also named a Distinguished Hospital of Clinical Excellence for the 10th consecutive year and is a five-star recipient for treatment of heart failure, stroke, pneumonia, sepsis, and respiratory failure among others. The hospital also earned five-star ratings for total knee replacement, spinal fusion surgery, and small intestine surgeries.

“Although Piedmont Fayette now employs over 1,700 people, we are still a cohesive team with a shared vision of excellence,” said Burnett. “Each person here is always looking for ways to improve and continue to make positive differences in the lives we touch every day.”
