Phoebe Marie Strahler died on February 9, 2018, at Arbor Terrace in Peachtree City, where she had lived since 2013.

Phoebe was born on March 6, 1925, in Malta, Ohio, to Dr. William Russell Sears and Flo Marie Dunnington Sears.  She married Robert Francis Strahler on June 22, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio.

After graduating from Ohio Wesleyan University, Phoebe taught music in Columbus, while her husband finished studies for a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Ohio State University.

They moved to Illinois in 1951, where they raised five children, and Phoebe assisted in her husband’s veterinary practice. After her husband died in 2007, Phoebe relocated from Ocala, Fla., to Wesley Woods in Newnan, to be near three of her children. She and her family deeply appreciated her caregivers there and at Arbor Terrace.

Surviving are two sons, Steven (Michelle Uhler) of Oak Park, Ill. and Mark (Lana Benefield)of Peachtree City; three daughters, Susan (Robert) O’Brien of Lawrenceville, Kay (Dane) Patterson of Fayetteville, and Joan (David Stallman) Strahler of Leesburg, Va.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Marthalyn Kistler, and a half-brother, Dustin.

Graveside services are pending at Arlington National Cemetery.
