Municipal qualifying starts this Monday

Multiple posts up in PTC, Fayetteville, Tyrone, Senoia

Qualifying time for municipal elections is around the corner for the general election to be held Nov. 7. Races will be held in Peachtree City, Fayetteville, Tyrone and Senoia.

In Peachtree City, the seats held by Mayor Vanessa Fleisch, Post 3 Councilwoman Kim Learnard and Post 4 Councilman Terry Ernst will be up for election. So far, Fleisch and Ernst have announced plans to seek reelection.

The qualifying period begins Aug. 21 and ends Aug. 25 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Candidates must be at least 21 years of age and must have continuously resided in Peachtree City for at least six months immediately preceding the election.

In Fayetteville, the seats held by Post 3 Councilman Scott Stacy, Post 4 Councilman Jim Williams and Post 5 Councilman Paul Oddo are up for election. Williams has indicated that he will not be running for another term.

The qualifying period runs Aug. 21-25, with qualifying times from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Those qualifying must be at least 21 years of age and a resident of the city 12 months prior to the election.

In Tyrone, the council seats for Post 3, held by Ken Matthews, and Post 4, held by Gloria Furr, will be up for election.

The qualifying period will begin on Aug. 21 at 8:30 a.m. and at 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 25.

Candidates must have continuously resided in Tyrone for the prior 12 months preceding the election and be at least 21 years of age.

In Senoia, the council seats held by Mayor Larry Owens, Post 1 Councilman Chuck Eichorst and Post 2 Councilman Jeff Fisher will be up for election.

Qualifying dates are Aug. 21-23 from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

The city requires candidates to be at least 21 years of age and a resident of Senoia for the past 12 months.
