Peachtree City’s Little League squad reached the final round of the Southeast Regional this week, falling to the championship team from North Carolina. This is the third straight year Peachtree City has represented Georgia in the regional in Warner Robins.
After capturing the state title early last week with a win over Cartersville in the finals, Peachtree City joined an eight-team bracket that includes state champions from Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
Peachtree City’s first game in the double-elimination tournament was a 9-3 win Aug. 4 over Fort Hunt (Va.). After a 12-3 loss the next day to Goodlettsville (Tenn.) the team bounced back Sunday with a 14-2 win over Greenville (S.C.) to advance.
That was followed by two more wins Monday and Tuesday, 14-11 over Phenix City (Ala.) and 4-1 in the rematch against Tennessee. The championship round started Wednesday afternoon with Peachtree City needing two straight wins over unbeaten Greenville (N.C.). They lost 8-6 in the first game.
