A 15-year-old Sandy Creek High School student was arrested May 19 for stealing a teacher’s vehicle during school hours on May 17.

Sheriff Barry Babb said the 15-year-old male juvenile, a student at Sandy Creek High School, was charged with theft by taking a motor vehicle.

Babb said the juvenile stole a teacher’s car keys during the morning hours of May 15.

The student at approximately 11:30 a.m. walked out of the school on Jenkins Road, entered the teacher’s vehicle and left the scene, Babb said.

Deputies recovered the vehicle Wednesday night off North Fayette Court, said Babb.

The 15-year-old was arrested Friday morning, Babb added.

It was apparent from the school video that the juvenile was a suspect in the vehicle theft, Babb said.
