Virgil Fludd to speak at Fayette Historical Society meeting

Virgil Fludd is a senior advisor in Dentons’ Public Policy and Regulation practice group. His focus is on Georgia government affairs, at the local and state levels, for clients across a range of sectors. He has particular experience working with the highly regulated financial technology industry and the film and television industry.

The Fayette County Historical Society meets at 195 Lee Street in Fayetteville at the Margaret Mitchell Research Center. Society members encourage the community to join them for the Feb. 19 meeting at 3 p.m.

Fludd’s more than 30 years of legislative, political and business experience, includes 14 years in the Georgia General Assembly where, as a state representative from the 64th District (South Metro Atlanta), he served on the Ways and Means, Regulated Industries, Small Business Development, Ethics, and Banking Committees; chaired the House Democratic Caucus; and co-chaired the Georgia Working Families Caucus. He also served as vice-chair of National Conference of State Legislatures’ Budgets and Revenue Committee.

Fludd authored or co-authored over 100 bills aimed at increasing economic development activity and otherwise enhancing the lives of Georgia citizens. His legislative successes included efforts to reform the state’s tax code and improve the public’s financial literacy. He has been recognized by the Center for Policy Alternatives, AARP, the Georgia Association of Personnel Services, Georgia Conservation Voters, the Sierra Club, Georgia Equality, the Georgia State AFL-CIO and the Georgia Association of Educators.

In addition to his government work, Fludd has spent more than 20 years in the private sector, including as a vice president and sales manager for a major US financial institution; in various sales and management positions at a leading document technology and IT services company; and as founder, president and CEO of a executive recruiting and management consulting firm that served the financial services and information systems industries.
