Virginia Lee Hayhurst passed peacefully on January 17, 2017.
Born in 1930 in Fairmont, W. Va. as the eldest of three children of Bert and Lillian Linn, Virginia graduated from East Fairmont High School and attended a local business college before marrying James T. “Haybuck” Hayhurst in 1949. She and James were married for over 50 years and raised five children. Virginia worked at Owens-Illinois in the Packing and Shipping Department for almost 20 years, was an avid gardener well-known for her skill in cultivating African violets, and, along with her husband, enjoyed deep-sea fishing.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her younger brothers, Carl “Bee Bee” Linn and Jerry Linn, and her children, Jimmy Hayhurst and Sally Johnson.
She is survived by three of her children, Barry Hayhurst, Beverly (Hardy Sanders) Jones, and Sandra (Keith) Johnson; her six grandchildren, Blake Jones, Tracey (Marco) Reyes, Lindsey Johnson, Erik Johnson, James Johnson, and Shannon Hayhurst; and three great-grandchildren; Alex Jones, Nathaniel Reyes, and Nora Reyes.
The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with a private interment on Saturday.
