The Fayette County Public School System is in the process of expanding its pool of school bus drivers. No previous experience driving a bus or large vehicle is required. The school system provides training to candidates whose Motor Vehicle Report (MVR or driving history) and criminal background check turn up no problems that would prevent them from driving a school bus or working around children.

All new hires must start out as substitute drivers before being considered for a full-time position. Substitutes earn $64 per day covering routes for full-time drivers when they are absent or sick. Full-time drivers are eligible for health, dental, life, and long and short term insurance benefits, as well as sick leave time.

Anyone interested in becoming a substitute school bus driver should apply online at www.fcboe.org. There is link to the application is in the middle of the page under “District Announcements.”

For additional information, call 770-460-3520, Prompt 1.
