Doris Hood Smith, 83, of Senoia, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on December 18, 2016, due to complications with Alzheimer’s.

Doris was a faithful member of Heatherwood Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Smith.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Phillip) Garrett; grandchildren, Bethany Garrett and Jordan Garrett; sisters, Mary Mac Peyton and Carolyn (Ron) Thomas; brothers, Jim (Carol) Hood, Bobby (Jackie) Hood, and Dale (Mary) Hood; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at 4 p.m., in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Rev. Doug Johnson officiating. The family received friends from 3 – 4 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Greenhill Memorial Gardens, Summerville, Ga., on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at 1 p.m.
