Fayette County Public Schools has received two national awards for its Comprehensive Annual Report (CAFR) for fiscal year 2015.

The school system received the Association of School Business Officials International’s (ASBO) Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting award, having met or exceeded the program’s high standards for financial reporting and accountability.

Fayette is one of only 542 school systems in the nation to receive the designation, and is one of nine recipients in Georgia.

Additionally, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded the school system a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.

The school system is one of 4,181 governmental organizations in the nation to receive the award.

Both awards confirm the school business office’s commitment to financial accountability and transparency by publishing an easily readable and efficiently organized CAFR, which contents conform to program standards, and that satisfy both generally accepted accounting principles and legal requirements.
