Brittany Clarke, a 16-year-old junior at Starr’s Mill High School, received the Girl of the Year Award for 2016 from WIT (Women in Technology of Atlanta). She received the honor during a recent event in the Georgia Aquarium’s ballroom.
She also recently received three scholarships of $2,500 each from Scintel, State Farm and Coca-Cola as well as a Dell laptop computer.
Formerly involved with the Robochicks, a robotics team consisting of Girl Scouts, she now participates with the 100 Scholars team in Atlanta.
Since seventh grade she has known exactly what she wanted to do – become a neurosurgeon and work with biomedical technology. While her interests have slightly varied and broadened based on experiences and exposure to different jobs, she still is strongly interested in biomedical engineering.
With her involvement in Girl Scouts, Women in Technology, FIRST Robotics, Outreach, HOSA, Chess Club, Book Club, and Society of Women Engineers she is a very well-rounded student. Her ultimate dream is to contribute to the cure for multiple sclerosis through the use of biomedical engineering.
