Mary K. Worth of Fayetteville passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, November 14, 2016.
Mary was born and raised in Glasgow, Va. and retired from Burlington Industries after 40 years of service. She moved to Fayetteville in 1991. Mary was an outstanding athlete in high school, winning many awards in basketball and softball. Over the years, she was active in her church, served as a hospice volunteer, delivered Meals on Wheels, and was an active member of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of more than 50 years, Maurice Worth, Sr., and her son, Maurice Worth, Jr. She is survived by her grandson, Michael Worth and his wife, Cheri, of Athens; and her daughter-in-law, Rosalee Worth of Fayetteville.
A memorial service was held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Fayette Presbyterian Church, with a reception following the service in the Fellowship Hall. The family received friends and visitors at 3 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall prior to the service.
