Liberty Tech students, U.S. veterans, and their families gathered Nov. 10 to share breakfast and march through the streets of Brooks led by the fire department.

The parade was welcomed by Brooks community, many of whom had missed the annual event since the closing of Brooks Elementary School. The students worked with volunteers to plan the event and design and decorate banners showing their support for the armed services.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the Veteran’s Day breakfast and parade as the guest of my great-grandchildren at Liberty Tech Charter School,” said Richard Maxwell, a 91-year-old Naval Air Force veteran who served during World War II. “It was a true joy to get out and walk the small town streets behind the fire truck while holding the hands of the young children attending Liberty Tech. I appreciate the values that this school is teaching the children and I am thankful that after years of praying for the return of a a school to this area, Liberty Tech was the answer we received.  This school will make the community stronger through its presence, activities, volunteer efforts, and the principles it instills in America’s youngest citizens.”
