Richard Emory “Dick” Lamb, Sr., 88, of Panama City Beach, Fla. passed away on August 27, 2016 in Fayetteville, Ga.
Raised in Fayette County, he was born to Ola Susie and Harry Lamb, Sr. on April 10, 1928 in Atlanta, Ga. where the Fox Theatre is located. Dick was a pilot in the United States Marine Corp. He also worked as a private pilot. He worked for 40 years at the U.S. Postal Service as a postmaster/director. During high school, he worked at the Atlanta Airport and The Bell Bomber Plant. He was a lifetime blood donor. He was also a Methodist Sunday School superintendent for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Barbara “Bobbie” Lamb; his daughter, Barbara McWilliams (Al) of Tyrone; his sons, Richard Emory Lamb, Jr. (Cindy) of Texas and David Asa Lamb (Joy) of Fayetteville; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and his brother, Marcus Lamb (Rhonda).
A graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, Ga., with Pastor Richard Leach officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Gideons International, https://www2.gideons.org/.
