Providence UMC is offering free garden plots for this late summer/fall growing season.

The “Jubilee Garden” has 25 ten foot square plots which are surrounded by a newly installed chain link fence, with water provided to the garden.

Providence’s new senior pastor, the Rev. Herb Flanders explains, “We know everyone is a lot more conscious of the food they eat and are concerned about what they give their children. Getting a plot at the Jubilee Garden is a great way to teach children of all ages about what it takes to grow food and, if they help water, weed and tend the plot, it might even encourage them to try something they haven’t eaten before!”

Eagle Scout Adam Secor of Troop 201 recently installed a higher, more restrictive fence due to deer and rabbits getting into plots last year.

Plots are first come, first served. Email Leslie Lunsford at [email protected] to reserve a plot.
