Twenty-three scouts and adults from Boys Scout Troop 175 out of Peachtree City returned July 10 from a two-week high adventure at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico.

The 60-mile backpacking adventure included rock climbing and rappelling, white water rafting, fly fishing, blacksmithing, muzzle loading rifles, horse riding and much more.  The troop also did a conservation project by constructing a new trail on the ranch.

The group hiked Black Mountain to reach an altitude of 10,889 feet.

Philmont Scout Ranch is the Boy Scouts of America’s largest national High Adventure Base. Its 34 staffed camps and 55 trail camps provide an unforgettable adventure in the high country along hundreds of miles of rugged, rocky trails.
