Serianni most recently spent 10 years working at Dunkin Donuts as a director of operations. He grew up in Upstate New York and has an associates degree in community development from the University of the Nations, Kailua Kona, Hawaii, and a bachelor’s in divinity from the International Theological Seminary, Bradenton, Fla.
He spent four years working as a missionary with inner city kids in the Dominican Republic then as an associate pastor over Team Kid, worship, evangelism and new members in Florida, as well as three years teaching middle school and director of summer and after school programs. In addition, he has volunteered leading Kid’s Sunday Worship, young and married Sunday school, Spanish Bible study, and “Go Neighborhood” Outreach.
Serianni says he had been feeling a call to return to full time ministry but had been waiting on God and the right time. He and his family have been attending Heritage for two years and when his good friend, Dave Damron, who led the search team, presented him with the opportunity of becoming the new children’s pastor, he felt is was the right time.
Serianni says that what he enjoys most about being a children’s pastor is how moldable children are. They can so easily be reached with the Gospel.
“We have the opportunity to set them on the right course in life and to build a foundation that supports a solid Christian life.” he said.
The philosophy of the Kids in Flight children’s ministry at Heritage, he says is “… to meet kids where they are. You have to speak, teach, play, and talk to them at their level, to do everything with excellence. A strong team is needed to minister. People with different talents and gifts need to be organized, trained, supported and released to do what they have been called to do.”
Serianni and his wife, Wendy, have been married for 14 years. They have three children, Isabella, 10, Tony, 8, and Ilianna, 4.
He enjoys sports and exercise, basketball, surfing, swimming, extreme sports, surfing, woodworking and camping.
