Cornerstone United Methodist Church received the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church’s “Church of Excellence in Mission” last week in Athens during the Annual Conference meeting.

Cornerstone was one of eleven churches receiving the award because of their work in local, national, and global missions.

Cornerstone is active in local ministries through Welcome House, One Roof, Bridging the Gap, O’Rourke Ministries, Joey’s Toy Box and Trinity Soup Kitchen. The church also leads mission trips to Kentucky and Honduras each year and began this year sponsoring a missionary in El Salvador.
