Motorists using the area of Senoia Road situated between Ga. Highway 74 North and Crabapple Lane for thru-traffic should expect to find a detour in place beginning June 1.
Construction to elevate the portion of Senoia Road where the MacDuff Parkway bridge will cross the CSX railroad tracks and connect to Kedron Drive is expected to begin immediately.
The detour will be in effect between Saranac Park and The Retreat apartments and is necessary to make way for the road work, said Peachtree City Manager Jon Rorie.
Signs are being posted to detour traffic by way of Crabapple Lane and Hwy. 74.
Rorie said crews waited until school was out to begin the project.
The two remaining phases of the parkway include construction of the bridge and extending the completed portion of the parkway to Senoia Road.
