VFW Post 9949 presented the post-level first-place Citizenship Education Teacher Award to Ms Paula Nellesen, a fifth-grade teacher at Huddleston Elementary.
This award is for teachers who promote, for example, civic responsibility, flag etiquette and patriotism in their classrooms.
In addition to the Post level award, Nellesen also received second place at the District 5 level where she competed against 15 other regional posts.
