The Tara Winds Scholarship Foundation has selected two Fayette County band students as among the 10 recipients of the 2016 Tara Winds Scholarship.

Rachel Anders of McIntosh High was one of two recipients selected for the college scholarship worth $2,000. The college scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors pursuing higher education in instrumental music.

Daniel Chapadeau of Flat Rock Middle was one of two recipients selected for the middle school scholarship worth up to $500. The middle school scholarship is to help fund students’ participation in summer music camps.

The Tara Winds Scholarship Foundation was established in 1993 to share the love of music by providing funds to further music education. The foundation is part of Tara Winds, an all-adult symphonic band celebrating over 25 years of excellence in musical performance. The band serves as a performance medium for local musicians, and to encourage school band members to continue performing after completion of their formal studies.
