A vote by the Coweta County Commission now puts decentralized wastewater systems in Coweta County under the ownership of the Coweta County Water and Sewerage System.

The current Coweta County Zoning and Development Ordinance called for Newnan Utilities to provide the ownership, installation and operation of the decentralized wastewater treatment systems.

Following discussions between Newnan Utilities, Coweta County Water and Sewerage Authority and the Coweta County Board of Commissioners, the Coweta County Water and Sewerage Authority is now taking over the ownership and operations of these systems.

With this action, the ordinance will be amended to remove “Newnan Utilities” and replace it with “Coweta County Water and Sewerage Authority”.

Chairman Tim Lassetter called for any comments in support of or in opposition to the proposed amendment. There were no comments forthcoming.

The vote on the amendment was unanimous.
