Starr’s Mill Academy Preschool and Childcare on Ga. Highway 74 South in Peachtree City completed the requirements of the city’s annexation process and received a unanimous recommendation for approval on April 11 from the city’s Planning Commission.
The Peachtree City Council heard and approved the Step One annexation request from Starr’s Mill Academy in February. The April 11 vote by planning commissioners to recommend annexation was unanimous.
The 11,000 sq. ft. building situated on a 6.71-acre site is located on Hwy. 74 South and is adjacent to The Gates subdivision.
The council prior to the vote in February heard from Starr’s Mill academy representative Jerry Petersen who reiterated the specifics of the request as presented by Planning and Development Director Mike Warrix.
Sewer would be available to the Starr’s Mill site on the southwest portion of the property.
Starr’s Mill Academy is located across Hwy. 74 from the Starr’s Mill school complex.
Step One is intended to provide a general overview of the proposed annexation and identifies how the annexation and zoning may or may not be compatible with the established goals and objectives within the city’s comprehensive plan.
Step Two requires the submittal of additional and detailed information pertaining to the impacts of the annexation and subsequent development of the property. A recommendation that an annexation request continues through the review process in no way implies that City Council will ultimately approve the property for annexation.
