Fayette’s first Elementary Honors Chorus, featuring 98 fifth-grade students representing each of the Fayette County Public School System’s elementary schools, held its first workshop and concert at the Atlanta Woodruff Arts Center at the end of March.

Music teachers at each school chose seven of their fifth-grade students to participate in the program. Michelle Ripley from The Children’s School of Atlanta served as director of the chorus. The students rehearsed with Ripley for over five hours prior to presenting their concert to more than 400 people.

The students were also given a special tour of the High Museum, and participated in an art class directed by teaching artists from the High.

Liz Davis, education coordinator for the Woodruff Arts Center, coordinated the day’s events and concert.
