I am a Special Education teacher with the Joseph Sams School. I wanted to submit this story to you as a way of spreading hope and encouragement to our community. There are still kind people in this world, and Fayetteville has proven to have angels among us. This is not the first time people have shown their kindness to our school and students. So, thank you Fayetteville. We love our community.
On Monday we had made plans to take our students on a field trip to the Fernbank Science Center. Early that morning I went to the Flash gas station to fill up our school’s small bus.
As I was waiting for the receipt to print from the pump, a gentleman approached me and asked, “How many gallons does that thing hold?”
I responded as he walked up to look at the pump. He then proceeded to offer to pay for our gas.
“That’s not necessary,” I said. But he insisted and handed me money to pay for our gas. He wanted no recognition, just “wanted to help people who help people.”
I wanted to pass this story on, not only to again say thank you to the generous man at the gas pump, but to remind us all that regardless of our sometimes crazy existence, there are angels who drive PT Cruisers.
If anyone is discouraged, I hope from our story, you are encouraged to have hope in the kindness of others. Maybe from our story we can be encouraged to be kind to others. It may not be in dollar amounts but kind words can be priceless.
