An 8-inch water main break on March 21 in the area of Ga. Highway 85 South, Seay Road and Old Senoia Road had Fayette County Water Department staff hand delivering boil water notices to approximately 150 customers. Repairs were expected to be completed on March 22.
System Director Lee Pope said the 8-inch main break occurred in a wetland area.
Water system staff hand-delivered “boil water” notices to approximately 150 customers on Monday.
“We don’t have the equipment to work in marshland so we called Georgia Hydrant Services in Loganville,” Pope said, adding that crews responded quickly.
Notices were delivered to customers in the Hwy. 85 South area of Seay Road and Old Senoia Road out of an abundance of caution, Pope said.
Repair work continued Tuesday morning, with Pope expecting that the repair would be complete later in the day.
“We will hand-deliver notices when the water is safe,” Pope said.
The notice to customers said water should be boiled for at least one minute after a rolling boil is reached.
The cause of the main break is under investigation.
