The volunteers and staff at the Fayette County Animal Shelter are preparing for the Paws for Reading event scheduled for Saturday, March 5, from 2 to 3 p.m.
Approximately 30 children are signed up to read to the shelter pets.
“An earlier event was held and the response was amazing,” according to a spokesperson. “The children and shelter pets had a great time.”
