The Fayette County Board of Education is inviting the community to suggest a name for the school system’s new transportation building that will open soon off of Goza Road, near Whitewater High, and will house the bus shop and transportation staff.

Members of the community can submit ideas for the name online at www.fcboe.org/transportationfacilitysurvey Feb. 1-29. Respondents can suggest up to three names in priority order.

The Board of Education policy for naming school facilities does not allow for buildings to be named for individuals or people. Instead, buildings are named for geographic locations, streets, and other landmarks. The policy can be viewed online by going to the eBoard site (the link is on the right-hand side of the school system’s website, www.fcboe.org), click on the “Policies” tab at the top, and select “Facility Expansion Program” from the dropdown menu.

The Board of Education will take the suggestions under consideration when making a decision on a name.
