Carol Mitchell Striler passed away January 20, 2016.
She was born and raised in Detroit, Mich. by Henry and Catherine Mitchell along with her beloved brother, David and cherished sisters, Jocelyn, Marie, and Patricia. Her father was a Detroit police officer and her mother devoted every waking moment to caring for a husband and five children.
Carol was immersed in a family culture that “made do” with limited material things, but fiercely supported each other in terms of love, hopes and dreams. Her life trajectory soared as a model, flight attendant, soldier, banker and educator. Through each of those endeavors Carol found her relationships with people to be the sweet and satisfying spice of life. Her kind, generous and loving spirit touched the lives of many people in a positive way. Carol will be missed intensely by husband, Carl, brother and sisters and the many nieces and nephews that brought her great joy, pride and love.
No local service will be held. Cremation, followed by a family celebration in California. Donations may be made to Friends of Cancer Research, focr.org.
