The CARE (Children at Risk in Education) program of the Fayette County Public School System works throughout the year to meet the basic needs of students and their families who are struggling financially.
From graduation caps and gowns, extra-curricular activity fees, and field trip grants to clothes, shoes and toiletries, CARE works with the system’s school counselors to help students whose parents are working, but do not earn enough to meet all of their family’s needs.
The program relies on donations from community organizations, businesses, and individuals to purchase personal items, and pay school-related fees so that all students can feel confident and part of the their school’s community.
Thanks to the generosity of The Avenue Peachtree City and its patrons, the retail center has donated $1,711.08 to CARE. The proceeds were raised by donations made by patrons who visited The Avenue during various events held throughout the year.
“We are so thankful for the support of The Avenue in Peachtree City. The funds raised will have a positive impact on the lives of many children in our public schools,” said Karen Spangler, coordinator of the CARE program.
